Y’ALL DID IT! House Victory for the Great American Outdoors Act
As I write this, I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. Because of the hard work of conservation voters across South Carolina, and the rest of the country, the Great American Outdoors Act passed the U.S. House 310-107, with South Carolina’s own Congressman Joe Cunningham leading the charge and the support of Representatives Joe Wilson, Jeff Duncan, and James Clyburn.
The bill already passed the Senate, with the support of Senators Graham and Scott, now it heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law.
We applaud the efforts of our communities and legislators on both sides of the aisle, who worked tirelessly to fight for our public lands and push this bill across the finish line – to ensure full and permanent funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and long overdue investments in infrastructure for our public lands.
Send your U.S. Representative and U.S. Senators a note to thank them for all of their hard work and support of the Great American Outdoors Act.
These last few months have been hard on us all, especially those who have not had access to the solace that so many have found in our public parks and open spaces. But, with the passage of the Great American Outdoors Act, we have an opportunity to ensure that all of our communities across South Carolina have access to safe, quality parks and open spaces and the health benefits that come with it.
This historic moment will be forever remembered in our nation’s history, during a time when we realized the importance of nature and took action to ensure that we protect it for future generations to come.
