Scorecard
How does your legislator vote on conservation issues?
Welcome to the Legislative Scorecard , your window into the South Carolina General Assembly and the actions taken – or not taken – to protect the South Carolina you love. Our job is to show you who is protecting our air, land, water, and energy (and who is not), by scoring how House and Senate members voted on issues important to the conservation community. Below you can find how your legislator voted. We hope you’ll use what you find here to thank pro-conservation legislators, encourage under-performing legislators to improve, and make a more informed choice in the next election cycle.
The Filter functions below are an easy way to explore your legislators’ scores across legislative sessions. Need help with Your legislators? Find your elected officials here .
How We Score Legislators
When building the Scorecard, we looked at who voted for (and against) South Carolina conservation issues. Voting more consistently for those efforts leads to a higher score, while not voting or voting against will lower the score. Statistical scores, however, are an incomplete report on the legislative record. Who sponsored the good and bad bills in Committee? Who worked behind the scenes or spoke on the floor? For additional context, we’ve included bumps (plus or minus) based on bill sponsorships. Legislators who sponsored pro-conservation bills will see an increase in their score, while those who sponsored anti-conservation legislation will see a drop.
