Bills
South Carolina Energy Security Act
This bill was first introduced in 2024 under a different number and posed a significant threat to the environment and ratepayers across the State. However, thanks to persistent advocacy efforts, many of the bill’s most damaging elements were removed, preserving key consumer and environmental protections and supporting (rather than halting) clean energy growth. Still, the final bill remains a mixed bag that includes policies that will lead to annual increases in electric bills while also allowing costly, fossil fuel-heavy projects to move forward.
