Between the Governor’s announcement that South Carolina students will be spending the rest of the school year learning online and our state leaders still deciding how this year’s legislative session will end, I believe that it’s safe to say that life as we once knew it may not be returning anytime soon. As we get more updates, we’ll pass them along.
The phrase, meet them where they are, has taken on a deeper and universally relatable meaning now more than ever. More so, people are discovering new ways to lend their voices to causes that they deeply care about, and organizations like CVSC are finding new ways to meet people where they are so that those voices can be heard.
That’s why we are happy to announce the next webinar in our series, Conversations with Conservationists. This Wednesday, April 29th at noon, we will host a discussion on “Advocacy 101”. This will be a training designed to give you the foundational skills needed to stand up for the conservation issues you care about – both in our local communities and with our elected leaders – and make sure that your voice is heard, even from home. We even have a special guest from Lancaster — Rep. Mandy Powers Norrell!
As you know, advocacy is often about giving a voice to vulnerable communities or neglected issues. But, sometimes passionate voices need training to demonstrate commitment and focus. More importantly, as you have experienced, advocacy offers personal satisfaction – especially during times like these.
We hope that you can join us on Wednesday! Click here to register.
Also, if you haven’t heard, in an effort to keep voices like yours informed on what’s happening with conservation in South Carolina, the South Carolina Coalition has launched a NEW podcast, Public Concern, that features Alan Hancock from Coastal Conservation League, Rebecca Haynes from CVSC, and Bill Stangler from the Congaree Riverkeeper. Lastly, if you’ve missed any of our previous conversations from the webinar series, click here to watch past recordings and to register for future conversations.
As always, we are grateful to have your voice as we continue to fight for issues that ensure a clean and safe South Carolina. We know that we could not do this without you!
