Lawmakers Return to the Statehouse
As we enter into the fourth week of social distancing due to COVID-19, we are still at a legislative standstill. Unfortunately though, legislators are faced with a few must-do items that need to be addressed before the end of session (sine die) on May 14th. Therefore, legislators are returning this Wednesday, April 8th, for a limited session to pass a continuing resolution to adopt last Year’s budget and to clarify how the General Assembly will move forward in the coming months in a sine die resolution.

As we continue to practice social distancing, we encourage you to stay tuned into our webinar series, Conversation with Conservationists. On Thursday, April 9th at 4:30 PM, with our conservation partners, CVSC will be participating in the third episode of the series. The conversation will concentrate on how the Public Service Commission is implementing the Energy Freedom Act and what that could mean for our clean energy future. We’ll even have a special guest – Senator Tom Davis! And, on Tuesday, April 14th at 11:30 AM, the fourth episode will address how we are working with legislators and partners to set land protection goals for South Carolina.

Going forward, routing through these questionable times will require us to remain creative. And, with grace in front of us, we want to continue to meet you where you are and stay connected. If you’re like me, getting through these times haven’t been extremely easy. So, grace has been and continues to be a gift.
