Keishan Scott Wins House District 50 Special Election with Backing from CVSC PAC
COLUMBIA, SC—Voters in Lee, Sumter, and Kershaw counties elected Keishan Scott to the South Carolina House of Representatives on Tuesday night, selecting a leader rooted in public service, shaped by lived experience, and committed to protecting the state’s air, land, and water.
The special election fills the seat previously held by Rep. Will Wheeler, who resigned earlier this year to pursue a position as a 12th Circuit Court Judge. This role requires a one-year hiatus from legislative service.
Conservation Voters of South Carolina (CVSC) endorsed Scott, citing his understanding that environmental protection is closely tied to public health, economic opportunity, and overall quality of life.
“Keishan Scott represents the kind of leadership South Carolina needs, grounded in community, guided by experience, and ready to act on the urgent challenges facing our state,” said Katie Hagan, Senior Vice President of Political Strategy at CVSC. “We were proud to invest in this race through direct mail, digital ads, text messaging, and grassroots organizing to help elect a true conservation champion.”
