COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Conservation Voters of South Carolina (CVSC) on Thursday announced they were officially endorsing Michael Weaver for State House District 69.

CVSC chose to endorse Weaver because of his commitment to keeping our rivers and lakes clean for drinking, swimming, and fishing as well as his strong belief that conservation and business go hand-in-hand.

“We’re backing Michael because he understands the needs of District 69 and will be a strong voice for clean air and water,” said CVSC Executive Director John Tynan. “He knows that our air, land, and water are some of our State’s greatest assets and protecting them is good for business and good for our quality of life. With his passion for our natural resources, he’ll deliver clear conservation results.”

Weaver is one of five candidates running in the Republican Primary for State House District 69 in the special election on Tuesday, February 27. The seat was vacated after Rep. Rick Quinn resigned late last year.

“Protecting Lexington County’s natural beauty will be one of my top priorities as your next State Representative. We must protect the Lower Saluda River and ensure that our county grows responsibly. I will support the hunting, fishing, and farming communities that make our district a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” Weaver said. “I thank CVSC for their support and look forward to working with them in the legislature to protect the South Carolina we love.”

Weaver is the managing attorney for the McNair Law Firm’s Columbia office. He is an avid outdoorsman, spending time with his sons hunting and fishing across midlands and South Carolina. He is an active member of the Lexington County GOP, serves Board of Directors for the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and has served in number of volunteer capacities with the United Way of the Midlands.
