Energy Reform Bills Mark Major Milestone For 100 Day Campaign

Coalition Hits First Milestone of 100 Day Clean Energy Agenda

Companion energy competition bills filed in House and Senate

COLUMBIA, S.C. – State lawmakers announced a pair of companion bills today that will inject competition into the state’s energy marketplace. From the first day of 2019, Conservation Voters of South Carolina, along with more than 15 conservation and energy industry partners, outlined a legislative pathway for energy competition in the first 100 days of the Year.

The bills, the Clean Energy Access Act in the Senate (S.233) and the Energy Freedom Act in the House (TBD), mark a milestone in the 100 Day Campaign less than 10 days into the New Year.

“We laid out a series of objectives that would inject free market competition into the energy sector, protect and create jobs, and lower electricity bills for everyone,” said Conservation Voters of South Carolina Executive Director John Tynan. “Just 10 days into our 100 Day Campaign, we reached our first major milestone with the filing of these comprehensive bills on energy competition. We’re grateful for the leadership from Senator Davis and Representative McCoy and look forward to working with them to advance these important bills.”

The 100 Day Clean Energy Campaign includes more than 1 million planned connections with South Carolina voters through a number of channels, including mail pieces -an effort already underway, digital impressions, and other multimedia outlets.
