What Do We Do Next?

Over the last several weeks, we have seen an outpouring of folks “showing up” all over the country. From rallies to calls and emails to state and local leaders, the response has been overwhelming. Now, more than ever, there is a need to build on this momentum and make sure we are taking care of things right here in South Carolina. There are a number of important issues related to protecting the air, land, and water that are being discussed daily. Now is the time to “show up.”  Here are a few ways you can do that:

1.Know the Issues

One of the best tools we have for making a difference is knowledge. An easy way to stay informed is to read Rebecca’s Legislative Hotlist that comes out every Monday during session.

2. Contact your Legislator Online

Right now we have several issues that you can contact your legislator about on our Legislative Action Center. Many of our state legislators go for long periods without hearing from any of their constituents. Taking 2 minutes to personalize an email template and add your unique voice on the issue will make a huge impact.

3. Talk to Your Legislator in Person

The single most effective way to influence your legislator is to meet and talk with them in person. We want to help connect you. Join us whenever you have time (you can shoot me a quick email), or come to the Conservation Coalition Lobby Day on March 21st where we will join the Conservation Coalition and lobby our legislators together at the State House.

4. Tell your Friends and Family

There is no better way to increase your impact than by encouraging others around you to do the same. If you have an issue you are passionate about, make sure your friends and family have the right information and can take action as well. Getting them to sign up for our updates or take action is a good first start.

5. Ask Us To Talk

CVSC is here as a resource. We have the tools and expertise to provide education on conservation issues, advocacy training, and campaign training. Please consider hosting an event or inviting us to speak to an organization or group (even just a group of friends) so that we can continue to build the conservation voter movement.

We have seen time and again that when we “show up” together we can make a difference.

As always, feel free to pick up the phone and call the staff at Conservation Voters to get more involved.
