Celebrating New Leadership on CVSC’s Policy & Government Relations Team
Columbia, SC—Conservation Voters of South Carolina (CVSC) is thrilled to announce the promotion of three key staff members on its Policy & Government Relations team, underscoring the organization’s commitment to advancing conservation priorities across the state and fulfilling the vision outlined in CVSC’s 2024-2034 strategic plan.
- John Brooker has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Policy & Government Relations. Since joining the team in 2021, John has led major efforts to advance conservation and clean energy priorities across South Carolina, including key victories in the omnibus energy legislation (Act 41) and the Santee Cooper Reform Bill (Act 90). John’s leadership has strengthened CVSC’s voice in shaping a more sustainable energy future. In his new role, he will expand his focus to include CVSC’s land and water initiatives to advance a comprehensive policy vision for Conservation in South Carolina.
- Zach Bjur has been promoted to Land & Water Policy Director. Zach has been with CVSC since September 2021, serving as Land & Water Project Manager. He has been instrumental in establishing the PFOS, PFOA, & Emerging Contaminants Remediation Fund, which provides testing and filtration for private well owners across the state. Zach also led the Rosenwald Schools Initiative, securing funding for a feasibility study and working toward the establishment of a new State Park Network of Rosenwald School sites. Additionally, he has successfully advanced local referenda that have generated more than $250 million in funding for local land protection.
- Erin Siebert has been promoted to Energy Policy Manager. Erin joined CVSC in January 2024 as Energy Policy Associate, quickly proving herself as a rising leader in South Carolina’s clean energy movement. She has worked to advance significant conservation and energy priorities, including the recently passed omnibus energy legislation (Act 41). Erin also serves as the South Carolina Conservation Coalition’s Energy Issue Team Co-Chair, where she facilitates monthly updates on policy and legislative priorities, regulatory news, and opportunities for public action.

For more than two decades, CVSC’s policy and government relations efforts have played a central role in securing landmark conservation wins for South Carolina, from protecting drinking water to advancing cultural preservation, securing hundreds of millions in funding for land protection, and expanding clean energy access. These promotions reflect CVSC’s continued commitment to building a strong, effective team ready to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.
