Blackwater Recreation Area Opening: You’re not going to miss this, are you?
Few things are more exciting than seeing the hard work of the conservation community come to life. So, here’s a heads up about a chance to do just that:
The grand opening of the Blackwater Recreation Area of the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge is next Saturday, September 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The grand opening event is hosted by the S.C. Wildlife Federation and American Rivers, and it promises to be a good time.
We will celebrate the Waccamaw River, public lands, and the many benefits the refuge provides to the communities of Horry and Georgetown counties.
It’s just about a mile from downtown Conway on 501.

The event will include a brief dedication ceremony, kayaking, an acoustic band, and light refreshments.
There will also be opportunities to learn more about the refuge, its uses, and the opportunities it provides for the area’s residents and businesses, and for conservation.
Sounds fun, right?
We look forward to seeing at the Blackwater Recreation Area Grand Opening next Saturday, Sept. 20., between 10 a.m. and noon!
