Letter to the General Memberships
of CVSC, EVSC, and OSC

For the majority of the past six months, board members of Central Vancouver S.C., Evergreen S.C., and Orchards S.C. have been engaged in a dialogue to possibly merge the memberships and operations of the three clubs. Over the past couple of months, the three clubs have agreed in principle to begin the process of merging the three clubs into one. Several committees have been formed, and have begun the process of creating a "new", united club to better serve the soccer-playing youth of our community. While many rumors exist as to who, what, where, why and how this merger will proceed, the three boards, collectively would like to explain our vision and rationale for the proposed merger.

Our vision for the "new" club will be to create the best environment for developing the youth soccer player. We will work towards becoming the center of recreational and advanced competition youth soccer in Southwest Washington by providing the best in player and coach development.

The rationale for the proposed merge is as follows:

1. Player development.
2. Better coaching.
3. Proximity of the three clubs.
4. Sharing of workload.
5. Pooling of financial resources.
6. Competition of other clubs and the Parks & Rec. Department.

By uniting to become one, we can better focus our efforts on:

1. Player clinics and training.
2. Coaching clinics.
3. Field improvements.
4. Ensuring there are teams for everyone.

So, where do things stand today? At this point, the boards of the three clubs have approved moving forward with a merge. A steering committee made up of the three club Presidents and one other board member has begun putting the framework in place. Various sub-committees have been formed with at least one representative from each club. Each committee has specific duties and responsibilities for which it is responsible. Their work will be submitted to the steering committee for preliminary approval.

Once the finished product is ready, the "new" club packet (by-laws, rules & regulations, boundaries, etc.) will be submitted to the individual clubs for approval at the Annual General Meeting for each club. It will then be submitted to CYSF, and WSYSA for acceptance. Our first planned function for the "new" club will be Advanced Competition Tryouts beginning in March of 2008. A new website will be up and running by Spring of 2008. We will begin registering for Fall season using the new website in May of 2008.

All current teams (both recreational and "select") will be grandfathered in, where applicable. Teams with open spots will either be filled through the tryout process for "select" teams, or through the merging of teams or via the registration process for recreational teams. All other teams will be formed through the normal registration process, with every attempt made to form teams made up of players in close geographical proximity.

We have selected Vancouver United Soccer Alliance (VUSA) as the name for the new club, and we are finalizing our choice for new colors. We will grandfather in, for at least one year, your current uniforms.

Thank you for your time in reading this letter. As always, we welcome any newcomers that would like to help us improve the soccer experience of our youth. Please feel free to submit your comments to your individual club president.

Welcome to VUSA!
