The Recreational & Select Fall League seasons have recently completed.
Congratulations are in order for the following teams for their 3rd place or better finish in the league standings:
GU-18 Power Kicks Played in the open U-19 division and finished the second half of the season in 3rd place.
BU-16 Storm Finished the first and second half of the season in 1st place. Going undefeated for the entire season with a 10-0 record!
BU-12 Thunder Finished the second half of the season in a 3-way tie for 1st place.
BU-12 Hornets Finished the first half of the season in 3rd place.
BU-11 Lightning Finished the first half of the season in 2nd place.
District 5, Girls High School Division DaBomb Won the District 5 championship for the third straight year.
District 5, GU-14 Avalanche 93 Placed 3rd place in their age group in the combined U-14 & 15 division.
District 5, BU-18 Avalanche 89 Placed 2nd in the U-19 division.
District 5, BU-15 Avalanche 92 Won the District 5 championship.
District 5, BU-13 Avalanche 94 Finished in a tie for 1st place.
The State Cup tournaments are just around the corner. Central Vancouver has four teams entered in the Commissioners Cup: The GU-14 Avalanche, GU-18 DaBomb, BU-15 Avalanche, and the BU-18 Avalanche. Good luck and represent us well.

To Become a NEW REFEREE
USSF offers 2 grades for new referees: 8 and 9. Grade 9 is geared to 11 and 12 year olds and requires a 50 question (no fail) test. Grade 9 referees are limited in the age range they can referee. This is an excellent place to start for the young referee.
Grade 8 Entry level clinics
Recommended age: 12 years old and up.
Should be able to pass a 100 question test in an hour.
Cost is $65. Checks made payable to District 5.
There must be a minimun of 15 students pre-registered for the class to proceed. Each ELC (Entry Level Clinic) has 5 sessions, with the test given the last session.

RECERTIFICATION for 2008
If you have EVER been a USSF certified referee you can only recertify. You cannot become a new referee again. The requirements for recertification vary depending on how long your certification has lapsed.
If you have missed 1-2 years = 5 hours + test
If you have missed 3-4 years = last 3 sessions of ELC + test
If you have missed 5 or more years = entire ELC + test
There will be 3 opportunities locally to recertfiy for 2008. If this is done after December 31, 2007 an additional surcharge of 10% will apply. Cost of recertification is $45. Checks made payable to District 5

CVSC is proud to announce our 5th annual summer tournament, Summer Slam 2006. It will be held August 18-20, 2006. Tournament Head Quarters will be at Ft. Vancouver High School. Other venues such as Roosevelt and Burnt Bridge Creek will be added as necessary.
The tournament is open for all Rec and Select teams U-11 through U-18. Entry fees are $300 per team. First and second place teams will receive awards and individual medals. All players in the tournament will receive mementos as well.
As all Rec and Select coaches plan your summer tournament season, please include CVSC's Summer Slam 2006. Set aside the date, and contact the Tournament Director for details or to answer any questions. Registration should open very shortly and will be completed online this year, so please check back often. We hope to see you all for this final pre-season full-sided tournament.
We're also seeking any volunteers that would like to assist with the tournament. If you are interested, please contact the tournament director.

The recreational season has just ended with the conclusion of the Presidents Cup state tournament. Congratulations to the BU-16 Strikers for their second place finish in this State Championship Tournament. The Strikers have had an outstanding two-year run making it to the finals match in each of the past two seasons. WELL DONE!

BU-14 Sonics - Finished the second half of the season in 3rd place.
BU-12 Regulators - Finished the second half of the season in 2nd place.
BU-12 Anacondas - Finished the second half of the season in 3rd place.
